Headlight Damage 101 Understanding UV damage

There was another term introduced into the discussion of headlights by Pittman that was also misunderstood the term: UV Damage.
Ultra violet light rays were never discussed in association with Headlight damage
Then as today many are confused by what UV damage is.
The term headlight damage became associated with Oxidation and UV rays.
The people who use the term damage associated it with every defect of the headlight.
The term damage is associated with a need to resurface, sand and or polish.
There is little clarity that the layman can grasp when searching for answers.
Confusion is a tool used to control people and obscure the facts.

Here is the definitive guide of Headlight conditions referred to as damaged.

1. Oxidation……………….oxidation is not damage it is a surface condition that is  removable.
The non abrasive liquid acrylic lens deoxidizer is the recommended way to remove oxidation.

2. UV damage……………….UV damage is visual, it tints the lens yellow.
There is no known cure

3. Scratches………………. Surface damage is physical it can be covered, hidden

The lens has a yellow tint or hue but it is not light blocking.
